A little background

Shawnon: The most common reaction I received when I informed people I had finally been accepted to Veterinary school was: "That's great! You've wanted to be a vet for forever!" The most common reaction when informed that the school I would be attending was on the island of St Kitts in the EC: "Wow! Why the Caribbean?" Most common answer to this question: "Why not?!" I am overjoyed at being given the opportunity to become a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and can't wait to get started. Every experience I have had in life to this point has prepared me very well to finally stand on my own and embark on this incredible journey. Leaving behind the negative ties that have held me back I am finally free to leap forward in mind body and spirit and achieve my ultimate goal. One day I hope to travel the world as a surgeon with Veterinarians without borders helping animals medically as well as helping to educate people on proper treatments and basic care. The doors have finally opened after an extended siege, but there is no stopping me now and I couldn't be more excited.
